Bucharest, June 4, 2024 – Metrorex and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure signed today the financing contract for the project “M6 Bucharest: 1 Mai -Tokyo section (6 stations) with a total length of 6.6 km” financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNNR).

The investment objective “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo” is a public utility of national importance, which ensures the mobility needs of people through the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and has a value of 9,337,084,108 lei.

 
“Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)” will have 12 trains, a route of 14.2 km and will include 12 metro stations: Pajura, Expoziției – Pajura, Piața Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Aeroport Băneasa, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Brătianu, Aeroportul Internațional Henri Coandă. The project is divided into two lots: Lot 1.1 South Section (1 Mai – Tokyo), (6.6 km long and comprising 6 stations) and Lot 1.2 North Section (Tokyo – Otopeni Airport), (7.6 km long and comprising 6 stations).

 
This new and fast connection is designed for all the capital’s residents, business people, commuters, tourists and will ensure better business and travel opportunities, environment and quality of life. The new metro line will serve an area with high potential demand for fast, safe and efficient transportation. Traffic safety will also be significantly improved.

 
The M6 Metro Line, entirely underground, will provide a high-capacity rapid transport system between the Henri Coandă Otopeni International Airport – București and the central area of the city, thus contributing to the development of the regional economy and improving the urban environment by reducing road congestion, traffic accidents and air pollution.

This is how the adventure of children passionate about the metro started in Străulești, today!
METROREX offered its dearest passengers, the children, an unforgettable day – in preview for the 1st of June, the International Children’s Day.
METROREX General Director, Mariana Miclăuș, greeted the children, who love travelling by metro, at the arrival of the “Children’s Metro” in Străulești Depot, where trains are back home!
The little ones enjoyed the unique trip, while the older ones enjoyed the technical explanations given live by professionals from METROREX.
As numerous the questions, as curious the young guests (some of them future engineers or mechanics), so great was everyone’s joy.
All the drawings brought by the participants to the event are already on display in the exhibition ” Spotlight on children’s artwork”, at the Străulești Metro Museum.
You can therefore add this exhibition to your agenda for the 1st of June.

The METROREX event was organized together with the representatives of the Constructors appointed for the design and build of the structural works for the South and North Sections of the M6 Metro Line: Alsim Alarko – Makyol Association, respectively Gülermak Ağir Sanayi Insaat Ve Taahhüt A.S.-Somet SA and with the support of the representatives of the consultant in this project, the International consortium: PADECO CO., LTD., ORIENTAL CONSULTANTS GLOBAL CO., LTD, METROUL S.A. .
Merry Happy Years, dear children, from all of us!

Starting from Tuesday, 21.05.2024, at 10:00 a.m., traffic will be restricted on lane 1 on the roadway belt between General Ștefan Holban Street and Selgros Cash & Carry.

The STB station at the intersection of General Ștefan Holban Street and București-Ploiești Road, towards Otopeni – Bucharest, will be relocated approximately 100 meters towards Otopeni.

Traffic restriction occurs as a result of site activities under the construction contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo” at the upcoming metro station Aeroport Băneasa, on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section.

Traffic will be restricted according to the plan approved jointly by C.N.A.I.R. and I.G.P.P.R.

Road signage is carried out according to legal requirements applicable.

Starting Wednesday, May 22, 2024, traffic on Grațioasă Street will be closed on the segment between the end of tramway line 5 and București-Ploiești Road.

The traffic closure is due to the site activities within the construction contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo” at the upcoming metro station Aeroport Băneasa, on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section.

Traffic will be closed according to the plan approved jointly by C.N.A.I.R. and I.G.P.P.R.

Road signage is carried out according to legal requirements in force.

M6 is a project for Romania!

On Monday, 13.05.2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., STB will move the “Aeroport Băneasa” bus stop, approximately 50 meters from its current location, in the direction of Otopeni.

Starting from Tuesday, May 14, 2024, the traffic on the beltway in front of the Băneasa Airport will be temporarily closed for two days.

This change occurs as a result of the preparatory activities under the construction contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo” at the upcoming Aeroport Băneasa metro station on the future alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section.

The action of moving the station is done with the approval of the responsible authorities.

Signage of the works and relocation of the STB station will be carried out according to legal requirements in force.

Access to the Piața Presei Libere Passage will be restricted from 23.04.2024 to 25.04.2024, 23:00 – 06:00.

Topographic operations are in progress, under the construction contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo” in the Piața Presei Libere Passage, at the upcoming Montreal station on the alignment of the future M6 metro line, South Section.

The installation of the topo markers in the underpass is carried out with the approval of the Traffic Police, General Directorate of the Bucharest Police.

With the exception of the intervals mentioned above, the traffic on the specified road segment will continue under normal conditions.

IMPORTANT: traffic is not restricted or diverted on the roadway outside the passage.

Signage of the works will be carried out in accordance with legal requirements and, upon completion of the works, traffic will be reopened and the road signs will be restored to their original condition.

In order to minimize the inconvenience caused to traffic, works will be carried out exclusively at night.

With the exception of the intervals mentioned above, the traffic on the specified road segment will continue under normal conditions.

IMPORTANT: traffic is not restricted or diverted outside the overpass.

Signage of the works will be carried out in accordance with legal requirements and, upon completion of the works, traffic will be reopened and the road signs will be restored to their original condition.

In order to minimize the inconvenience caused to traffic, works will be carried out exclusively at night.

Bucharest, March 8, 2024 – METROREX wishes all the ladies a flourishing and joyful March 8. As mothers have a special place on this day, METROREX has organized a new exhibition at the Metro Museum in Străulești station, complementing kids’ passion for the metro with the love for their mothers.

The exhibition space at Străulești has become a symbolic garden, where flower-cards made by children smile playfully at the passengers while the title “Mama, I love you!” becomes a declaration of love valid for any age. The exhibition aims to be an upbeat urban message for the coming times, reminding people that life is a journey we take together, not only because of the importance of the day, but also because the metro network is about to add a new line, the M6 Metro line, 1 Mai – Otopeni.

“M6 Metro Line will be a part in the lives of both the people’s and the city’s and becomes a landmark project for Romania, meeting the EU’s sustainable mobility objectives,” says Mariana MICLĂUȘ, General Director of Metrorex S.A. “We want the capital’s inhabitants to welcome this project as a national project of great importance and to adopt it with open arms. Through what we are building, we are thinking about the future. That is why we thought it important to host an exhibition in Străulești, in the Metro Museum, on this occasion as well; children must be confident that the future belongs to them and that we are doing our best to make it a good one.
