From Tuesday, 03.09.2024, 11:00 p.m., traffic will be restricted on beltway next to the Ikea overpass, which branches off the National Road DN1 at km 8+600.

The traffic restriction starts in front of the “Automobile Bavaria” showroom, on lane 1 of the beltway road that branches off the DN1, between km 8+300 and km 8+450, towards Ploiești – Bucharest, starting Wednesday, 04.09.2024, 05:00.

Road signalization will be carried out according to legal requirements, and the implementation will take place on 03/04.09.2024, between 23:00 – 05:00 a.m..

The traffic restriction occurs in order to carry out the works related to Stage 2 for the upcoming Tokyo metro station, as part of the execution contract  “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo”; at the upcoming metro interstation Aeroport Băneasa-Tokyo, on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section.

The traffic is restricted according to the plan approved jointly by the C.N.A.I.R and I.G.P.R – Traffic Brigade.

The notice is valid until December 31, 2024.

Gara Băneasa Station, one of the most active construction sites of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, received today the official visit of the Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu, and the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Sorin Grindeanu.

During the visit, the state of works on M6 Metro Line was presented.

The event was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure: Ionuț Săvoiu, Secretary of State, Mariana Ioniță, Secretary General and various other officials.

The visit was hosted by Metrorex through their General Director, Mariana Miclăuș, the Contractors Alsim Alarko-Makyol, Gülermak-Somet and the Project Supervisor – the Padeco Co. Ltd. – Oriental Consultants Global Co. Ltd. – Metroul S.A.

Prime Minister, Marcel Ciolacu emphasized that the only sustainable solution for economic development and for overcoming the traffic problem in Bucharest is to invest in infrastructure, in particular the extension of the metro network.

The Chief of the Executive said that all the necessary resources will be allocated for investments in major infrastructure and said that he would discuss with the Minister of the Interior and the Mayor of Bucharest to find solutions to the traffic problems in Bucharest that will be affected by such works.

The Constructor presented the progress of works for the South Section in general and for the upcoming Gara Băneasa Station, covered by the visit.

The officials discussed with journalists and representatives of the M6 implementation team, emphasizing that this project will continue to enjoy the attention and support of decision-makers for infrastructure investment in Romania.

“Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni” is a public utility of national importance, according to Government Decision no. 496/2017, as amended,  which ensures the mobility needs of people through the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).

M6 Metro Line is a major urban infrastructure project for residents and visitors to the capital, from home and abroad.

We all want Bucharest to be a modern capital, with fluid, efficient and environmentally friendly traffic, however the construction site works also cause discomfort which we understand, we feel and we are trying to reduce as much as we can.

The work on the future stations will result in the 14.2 km long underground double track linking Gara de Nord (the North Railway Station) with the Otopeni Airport and will uncover 12 new metro stations along the way.

Preparations began on August 24 for the works to connect the M6 Metro Line with the current 1 Mai metro station.

WHAT ABOUT TRAFFIC?

Road traffic has been diverted on the basis of the Traffic Deviation Plan approved by the Traffic Technical Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, the Transportation Department, the Bucharest Streets Administration and the Bucharest Traffic Police.

The new operating diagrams of the traffic light systems at the intersection of Calea Griviței and Mureș Street and Ion Mihalache Blvd. and Clăbucet Street and the road signs are being applied in accordance with the legislation in force, and the Traffic Brigade is supervising the smooth traffic flow in the area. Please follow the information communicated by the STB, the Bucharest City Hall and the Bucharest Traffic Police.

Traffic restriction measures are required under the implementation of the construction works plan under the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo”.

DURATION

The notice is valid from 10.08.2024 to 15.11.2024. Any changes that may occur along the way will be announced in an updated notice.

WHAT ALTERNATIVES DO WE HAVE?

We encourage the general public that passes through the North-West area of the Capital to use the metro, a suitable solution to reach their destination quickly, cheaply and safely. At the same time, in support of the public living in the Bucharest-Ilfov Metropolitan Area, Metrorex offers the possibility of using the parking lot of the Străulești Multimodal Terminal, which has over 600 parking spaces.

Metrorex, through the Central Traffic Control Center, constantly monitors passenger traffic flows and takes all the necessary measures both by managing the increased flow of users as well as by adjusting the appropriate traffic intervals.

At the same time, depending on the passenger flow, additional points of contact with the public (ticket offices/access control booths) are provided.

Metrorex announces road traffic restrictions, scheduled to take effect on August 24, 2024, in the 1 Mai area. The traffic restriction measure is imposed by the works plan for the connection with the current 1 Mai station on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, as part of the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo”.

The traffic deviation plan is approved in accordance with the legislation in force.
The approval is valid from August 10, 2024 to November 15, 2024. Any possible changes along the way will be announced in an updated notice. The traffic restriction will start at the intersection Calea Griviței – Ion Mihalache Blvd., with the following detours:
– for the direction from Șoseaua Chitilei Road and Bucureștii Noi Blvd., the alternative will be the route Carpați Street – Mircești Street – Caransebeș Street;
– for the direction from Ion Mihalache Blvd. and Calea Griviței, for the exit from the capital, the alternative will be the route Clăbucet Street – Aviator Popișteanu Street – Soveja Street – Constanța Bridge;
Until the works commence, new operating diagrams will be prepared for the traffic light systems at the intersection of Calea Griviței with Mureș Street and Ion Mihalache Blvd. and Clăbucet Street. Road signage will be done in compliance with the legislation in force. In order to ensure the flow of vehicles on the detour routes, a tonnage restriction of 3.5 tons will be imposed in the direction from Șoseaua Chitilei Road and Bucureștii Noi Blvd., except STB, according to the approved traffic plan. Pedestrians will have to cross at the existing crossings at the ends of the restricted road section. The preparatory operations for the traffic diversion will be carried out with the support and under the supervision of the Traffic Police.

Metrorex announces the modification of the implementation period of the restrictions in the area of Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere. The restrictions, initially scheduled to begin on July 6, 2024, will come into effect as of July 13, 2024, at the request of the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport Bucharest-Ilfov (TPBI).

Execution activities at the upcoming metro station Piața Montreal on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, as part of the execution contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo” require the need to close the three existing traffic lanes on Mărăști Blvd., between Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere.

The restriction measure is scheduled for the time period 06.07.2024 – 07.09.2024; any possible modification will be announced through an updated notice.

The traffic deviation plan is endorsed by the Technical Traffic Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, the Transport Department, through the Approval no. 4257/08.04.2024, by the Bucharest Streets Administration and by the Bucharest Traffic Police, through the Notice no. 2791116 SSR/BS/10.05.2024.

Traffic deviation and road signage in the works area will be carried out in accordance with the legislation in force.

This will be signaled through the installation of information signs about the restriction at the intersections: Ion Mihalache Blvd. – Aviator Popișteanu Street, Aviator Popișteanu Street – Expoziției Blvd., Parcului Street – Expoziției Blvd. – Aviator Traian Vasile Street, Mărăști Blvd. – Alexandru Constantinescu Street and Mărăști Blvd. – Mareșal Alexandru Averescu Blvd.

Pedestrians will cross at the existing crossings at the ends of the restricted road section.

The traffic restriction will be established in the area of Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere and consists in the occupation of the three existing traffic lanes on Mărăști Blvd., on the Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere connection.

Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo” at the future Gara Băneasa metro station on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, METROREX announces road traffic restrictions, scheduled to come into force on June 29, 2024.

The traffic diversion plan has been approved by the Technical Traffic Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, the Transport Department, through Approval no. 212464/17.01.2024, and by the Bucharest Streets Administration and the Bucharest Traffic Police, through Approval no. 2791087 SSR/BS/10.05.2024.
The traffic restriction will be established on the București-Ploiești Road, in the area of Băneasa Railway Station – Fântâna Miorița and consists in the occupation of two traffic lanes on the direction entering Bucharest (lane I and lane II). Road traffic will operate on two lanes in each direction of the București-Ploiești Road, in the above mentioned area.

The preparatory traffic deviation operations will be carried out with the support and under the supervision of the Road Traffic Police. Traffic diversions in the construction area will be carried out in accordance with the legislation in force.
