From the night of 4 to 5 November 2026, new temporary traffic management measures will be introduced on Calea Bucureștilor (DN1), in the town of Otopeni, near the future Bruxelles metro station.
The works are needed so that construction of Bruxelles Station, part of the NORTH Section of Metro Line 6 (Tokyo – Otopeni Airport), can continue.
How will traffic be affected?
To carry out the works, the metal safety barrier in the central reservation will be removed along the section between km 12+760 and km 12+970. A new central barrier will then be installed, the road axis will be relocated and temporary road markings will be applied.
The works in the central reservation will be carried out at night only, between 23:00 and 05:00. During this period, the central lane will be closed in both directions and traffic will run on two lanes in each direction.
Once the road axis has been relocated, traffic will use the existing carriageway and the temporarily prepared area at the edge of the road, with two lanes in the Otopeni – Bucharest direction and three lanes in the Bucharest – Otopeni direction.
What work will be carried out?
The sewerage and rainwater drainage pipes, as well as the telecommunications networks, will be relocated. The road access to the DN1 will also be moved and the boundary of the construction site will be altered, so that work on the structure of Bruxelles Station can continue.
Temporary pedestrian routes will be provided while the utility networks along the pavements are being relocated.
The works are being carried out under the permits issued by CNAIR and the IGPR – Road Directorate.
Advice for road users
Drivers are asked to proceed with caution, to observe the temporary road signs and markings, and to plan their journeys in the area in advance.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank all road users for their understanding and cooperation.
