Road traffic restrictions in the area of PiaÈ›a Montreal – PiaÈ›a Presei Libere

Bucharest, June 27, 2024 – For construction activities in the framework of the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1Mai-Tokyo” METROREX announces road traffic restrictions, scheduled to enter into force on 06.07.2024 until 07.09.2024. The traffic restriction measure is imposed by the works plan for the upcoming PiaÈ›a Montreal subway station on the alignment of the future M6 metro line, South Section. Any changes that may occur along the way will be announced by means of an updated information notice. 
The traffic deviation plan has been approved by the Technical Traffic Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, the Transport Department, through Approval no. 4257/08.04.2024, by the Bucharest Streets Administration and by the Bucharest Traffic Police, through Approval no. 2791116 SSR/BS/10.05.2024.
The traffic restriction will be established in the area of PiaÈ›a Montreal – PiaÈ›a Presei Libere and consists in the occupation of the three existing traffic lanes on Mărăști Bd., on the PiaÈ›a Montreal – PiaÈ›a Presei Libere connection.
The diversion of traffic in the area of the works will be carried out in accordance with the legislation in force and will be signaled with the installation of information signs about the restriction at the following crossroads: Ion Mihalache Bd. – Aviator PopiÈ™teanu Street, Aviator PopiÈ™teanu Street – ExpoziÈ›iei Bd., Parcului Street – ExpoziÈ›iei Bd. -Aviator Traian Vasile Street, Mărăști Bd. – Alexandru Constantinescu Street and Mărăști Bd. – MareÈ™al Alexandru Averescu Bd. Pedestrians will cross the road at the existing crossings at the ends of the restricted road section.
The preparatory operations for the traffic diversion will be carried out with the support and under the supervision of the Traffic Police.

Great projects are built through great efforts, with the participation of all those who will benefit from them, and we are doing our utmost to ensure that the inconvenience caused is kept to a minimum”, says Mariana MICLÄ‚UȘ, General Director of the Metrorex S.A. “The M6 line is another major project in the development of the Bucharest subway system, extending the existing subway network and increasing the mobility of the population of the Bucharest metropolitan area and the city of Otopeni. M6 is a project for Romania! ” says the General Director of the Metrorex S.A.
M6 metro line will provide a direct connection from Gara de Nord (North Railway Station) to the Otopeni International Airport. It will have a route of 14.2 km and will comprise 12 metro stations: Pajura, ExpoziÈ›iei – Pajura, PiaÈ›a Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Aeroport Băneasa, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Brătianu, Aeroportul InternaÈ›ional Henri Coandă.
“Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)” is a project of public utility, of national importance, according to Government Decision no. 496/2017, as amended, which ensures the mobility needs of people through the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
