1 – 8 MARCH 2023 “M6 – A project as green as spring”

Between 1 and 8 March 2023, the Contractor ran the PR campaign “M6 – A project as green as spring”, dedicated to this period, in accordance with the Beneficiary’s requirements, split into two components: Corporate direct mailing, to partners, and the “Travelling Mărțișor” sampling campaign, for the general public.

1.1 CORPORATE PR component – direct mailing

The Contractor distributed to the Beneficiary, the Supervisor and the contacts in its own database kits bearing the M6 logo and containing a chocolate clover, a daffodil bulb in a pot wrapped in a jute pouch tied with a cotton mărțișor thread, a flower-shaped card suspended on a wooden stick, personalised with the headline “M6 – A project as green as spring”, and an M6 mărțișor with lichen and a craft card personalised with the wish “A beautiful spring”.

The Contractor delivered the M6 mărțișoare for the Beneficiary’s list on 1 March, and the rest of the kit on 6 March.

1.2 SAMPLING component

The Contractor prepared 550 mărțișoare, entitled “Travelling Mărțișor”, personalised with the logo, the M6 map and the headline “M6 Metro Line, a project as green as spring”, and made them available to the Beneficiary on the morning of 1 March. The Contractor, together with PR representatives of the Supervisor and of the Beneficiary, ran the sampling campaign for the travelling public.

The campaign took place on the metro route between Dristor 2 station and Gara de Nord 2 station.

The mărțișoare were distributed partly in the carriages of a metro train that set off from Dristor 2 station. The campaign was photographed and filmed by the Contractor. The remaining mărțișoare were handed out by the Beneficiary’s representatives on the platform of Gara de Nord 2 station.

During the campaign from 1 to 8 March, the Beneficiary ran on its own network of advertising screens a video prepared by the Contractor to promote the M6 project as a major and highly topical part of the Beneficiary’s activity.

The photographs from the event were made available to the Beneficiary and the Supervisor on the same day. Some of them were placed by the Contractor and the Beneficiary into templates produced by the Contractor for the Beneficiary’s Facebook page. The Beneficiary posted them the same day. The footage from the event was edited into a video based on a model sent by the Beneficiary to the Contractor and was sent to the Beneficiary and the Supervisor on the day of the event, to be used in a post on the Beneficiary’s Facebook page.

2022 – ECO Christmas

Between 10 and 28 December 2022, the Contractor ran the “ECO Christmas” campaign.

The creative concept of the campaign: “Every day we build a sustainable future. Now we are building the future.”

Approach: the importance of the M6 project, a major urban infrastructure project, was underlined through suggestive, symbolic means, drawing on a strategy based on the power of example. Rather than emphasising the glitter of the holidays, the campaign set out to highlight the benefits that well-made things bring to people’s lives. We chose a simple and memorable gift, one that can be brought to life. In the form of a direct mailing campaign, the project was communicated to stakeholders, partners and the press, conveying a long-term message and also an invitation to get directly involved. In this way, we set out to emphasise nature, continuity and perspective, the lasting value of professional and human relationships, and the importance of things achieved through working together.

Campaign elements: a fir planting kit and a holiday message.

Kit contents: a bio box, a biodegradable pot, a small bottle of Abies Alba fir seeds, fertile sowing soil, planting instructions, a craft bag, a label tied with string, a fir sprig, a card and an envelope.

The mailing was segmented bilingually (Romanian and English), according to the recipients in the database built by the Contractor, the Supervisor and the Beneficiary.

Notice regarding temporary traffic restrictions at Henri Coandă International Airport Otopeni

Between November 6 and 15, 2025, infrastructure work will be carried out, with temporary road signage approved by the Ilfov County Police Inspectorate – Traffic Division.

Starting Friday, November 7, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., road traffic, including buses, in the DEPARTURES area will be rerouted to the newly constructed lanes, in accordance with the approved traffic plan for the construction work related to the future “Aeroport Otopeni” metro station, on M6 Metro Line.

Information regarding temporary traffic restrictions in the Băneasa North Area

Between 3 and 23 November 2025, road traffic between Jandarmeriei Street and Dr. Liviu Librescu Boulevard is temporarily closed to allow construction works at the future “Washington” metro station, part of the “BUCHAREST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT RAIL ACCESS LINK PROJECT (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.2: Tokyo – Aeroport Otopeni”.

During this period, traffic will be diverted along the following route:
-> Aleea Privighetorilor –> Alexandru Nasta Boulevard –> Dr. Liviu Librescu Boulevard.

These measures are implemented based on the approval issued by CNAIR and the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police – Traffic Directorate. Road signage will be provided according to the approved traffic management plan. Upon completion of the works, traffic will return to its normal configuration.

Updated information on traffic restrictions at Fântâna Miorița, Gara Băneasa, on Șoseaua București – Ploiești

METROREX announces changes to the traffic restrictions in the Fântâna Miorița, Gara Băneasa area on Șoseaua București – Ploiești, on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, SOUTH Section.

The measures will be implemented on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, 14-15 October 2025.

Based on the Traffic Plan approved as part of the construction work for M6 Metro Line, SOUTH Section, there will be changes to traffic flow in the aforementioned area due to construction activities required by Phase V of the project for the future “Gara Băneasa” metro station.

The work will be carried out by closing lanes I and II heading towards Piața Presei Libere.

Road traffic on Șoseaua București – Ploiești, in the Fântâna Miorița area, will flow in two lanes in each direction, which will be properly marked and signposted.

Traffic to and from Tipografilor Street reopens on two traffic lanes.

Notice on new traffic restrictions on the DN1, in the Băneasa underpass area

From 15 October 2025, traffic restrictions will be introduced on the DN1, towards Otopeni, before the entrance to the Băneasa underpass.

In order to continue the works on M6 Metro Line, SOUTH Section, the following traffic measures will be taken:

  • road traffic will be carried on 2 traffic lanes alongside the site works, towards Otopeni,
  • the work area will be separated from the area open to road traffic by New Jersey concrete barriers, supplemented by flashing amber lights;
  • in order to carry out the works, road traffic will remain closed on the collector road adjacent to the DN1, on the section between Amiral Horia Măcelariu Street and Aerogării Boulevard.

The M6 Metro Line site will occupy the first traffic lane towards Otopeni, for a period of 40 days.

The STB bus station “Pod Băneasa” will be relocated 200 m from its original position, closer to the Băneasa Bridge.

Access to the junction of the DN1 with Aerogării Boulevard is not affected.

The measures are being implemented on the basis of the approval issued by CNAIR and IGPR, valid until 30.10.2025. The road signs will be set out in accordance with the approved traffic plan.

Second tunnel segment completed on M6 Metro Line

Today, the “Sfânta Ana” boring shield has broke through the wall of the future Aeroport Băneasa metro station on M6 Metro Line.

The giant machine began excavating the tunnel on Line 1 on May 28, 2025, from the future Tokyo metro station.

This event marks the completion of the first double-sided tunnel segment on the SOUTH Section of the future M6 Metro Line, with Line 2 having been finished over the same distance by the “Sfânta Maria” TBM in the middle of the previous month.

The segment completed by the “Sfânta Ana” boring machine amounts 900 linear meters excavated and 600 tunnel rings assembled!

We are glad that the two boring machines are keeping pace with the schedule for completing the structural civil works for the SOUTH Section of the future M6 Metro Line!

The TBMs “Sfânta Maria” and “Sfânta Ana” will excavate the 6.6 km long underground tunnels, on which the six stations and six interstations of the alignment of M6 Metro Line, SOUTH Section, 1 Mai – Tokyo, will be built.

Notice on traffic restrictions on the DN1, in the Băneasa Bridge area

From 10 September 2025, traffic restrictions will be introduced on the DN1, in the area of the junction with Elena Văcărescu Street and in the area of the junction with Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea Street, in order to continue the works on M6 Metro Line, SOUTH Section.

The works will be carried out simultaneously in both directions of travel on the DN1.

Traffic measures:

  • Road traffic will be carried on 3 traffic lanes, in the Bucharest – Otopeni direction;
  • Traffic will be closed on lane 1 in the area of the junction with Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea Street, and will be carried on the other two lanes, in the Otopeni – Bucharest direction;

The work area will be separated from the area open to road traffic by directional bollards, supplemented by flashing lights.

In order to carry out the works, road traffic will remain closed on the collector road adjacent to the DN1, on the section between Horia Măcelariu Street and Aerogării Boulevard.

The measures are being implemented on the basis of the approval issued by CNAIR and IGPR, valid until 30.09.2025, with the possibility of an extension. The road signs will be set out in accordance with the approved traffic plan.

Traffic restriction in Otopeni

Metrorex S.A. informs traffic participants that, starting from 9 September 2025, traffic restrictions will be implemented on DN1 – Calea Bucureștilor, in the Otopeni area, for the execution of works at the future “Otopeni” metro station, part of the project “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)”

The works involve utility network diversions and the construction of the metro station’s structure, requiring the following measures:

Traffic configuration on DN1

  • Road traffic will be organised with two lanes in each direction;
  • The central median barrier will be repositioned to allow traffic flow in both directions;
  • For the Bucharest – Ploiești direction, part of the traffic will be diverted through Otopeni’s street network, along the following route: DN1 (km 13+750) – Polonă St. – Floare de Cais St. – Argeș St. – Traian St. – Oituz St. – DN1 (km 14+650).

Other temporary restrictions

  • During the dismantling and installation of the central barrier, restrictions will apply on lane 3 of the Ploiești – Bucharest direction, between 11:00 pm – 05:00 am;
  • Pedestrian traffic will be ensured via temporary routes;
  • Vehicle access from DN1 to 23 August St. will be closed. At the same time, traffic from 23 August St. towards DN1 will be suspended.

➡️ Alternative routes:

  • towards Tunari: DN1 – Oituz St. – Floare de Cais St. – 23 August St.;
  • towards DN1 from inside Otopeni: Floare de Cais St. – Polonă St. or Traian St. – Oituz/Mărășești St.
  • Access to the car park in the 23 August St. area will be made via Floare de Cais St.

The restrictions are implemented based on the CNAIR and Traffic Police Approval no. 551907/S4/DB of 19.06.2025, in compliance with Order MI-MT no. 1112/2000 regarding traffic restrictions. Temporary road signage will be carried out according to the plan approved by the authorities.

Important announcement regarding metro train traffic on M4 Metro Line

Metrorex informs that, starting with September 1, 2025, there will be temporary changes in train traffic on M4 Metro Line (Gara de Nord 2 – Străulești), following work to connect the new M6 Metro Line to the existing network.

Thus, trains will operate with a transfer at Jiului Station. Passengers will need to get off and switch to the adjacent track in the desired direction to continue their journey.

The changes are necessary due to the temporary closure of line 2 between 1 Mai and Jiului stations, with trains running in both directions on a single track in this area.

These works are part of the M6 Metro Line: 1 Mai – Otopeni project, which will directly connect Gara de Nord with Henri Coandă – Otopeni Airport, a project of national interest, declared of public utility by Government Decision no. 496/2017.

At the same time, Metrorex announces improvements in train frequency on other lines:

On M1 Metro Line and M3 Metro line, between September 8 and December 31, 2025, the intervals between trains will be reduced:

• from 7 to 6 minutes on working days (Monday – Friday)

• from 10 to 9 minutes on weekends and public holidays
