“A project as green as spring!” – A corporate campaign that emphasizes the significance of the moment, merging the fertile nature/season of femininity with the start of a new major urban infrastructure project. At the same time, aligned with the uniquely feminine celebrations at the beginning of March, the context was opportune to connect the concept of equal opportunities with the anvergure of the M6 project. The value of female involvement was emphasized through its association with the vital, regenerative force that spring brings to the cycle of seasons. A chocolate clover, a bulb flower, and a lichen-adorned mărțișor conveyed the message “Wishing You a Beautiful Spring!” in an eco-friendly, natural campaign.

In a significant moment for the progress of the capital’s transport infrastructure, Metrorex announces the successful completion of the tender procedure for the metro network expansion project, which will provide a direct link between the city center and Henri Coandă International Airport. This project, an integral part of Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni), represents a major step forward in improving urban mobility and airport accessibility.
Award Winner: A Strategic Partnership for Bucharest
After a competitive selection process, the Gülermak Ağir Sanayi Insaat Ve Taahhüt A.S.-Somet SA Association was selected as the successful bidder, based on the “Best Value for Money” selection criteria. The official announcement was made today, at 14.30, marking a crucial moment in the advancement of the M6 Metro Line project, which will facilitate a fast and efficient connection between the city center and the Otopeni Airport.
Contractual Details and Project Funding
The contract value, in the amount of 1,278,415,271.87 lei (excluding VAT), reflects the commitment and significant investment in the modernization and expansion of Bucharest’s public transport infrastructure. Project financing is provided through a mix of state budget resources and repayable external funds, including a foreign loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), underlining the strategic importance and wider benefits of this project.
M6 Metro Line Impact: Connectivity and Development
With a total length of 14.2 km and 12 stations, the M6 Metro Line promises to transform the travel experience for residents and tourists alike. The Tokyo – Otopeni Airport section, comprising 7.6 km and 6 stations, including Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I.C. Brătianu and Otopeni Airport, will provide an efficient and safe solution for traveling to and from the airport, significantly contributing to a significant reduction in traffic congestion, road accidents and pollution.

It will have four main entrances: two in the middle of the station and two aligned with the airport’s terminals, along with a technical access point in the gallery area. As the final stop of the project, it will also serve as the reception shaft for the TBMs. Otopeni Airport Station will be 332.47 meters long, including 179.3 meters of maneuvering space at the southern end, and have a maximum width of 37.14 meters.

Ion I.C. Brătianu Station will be located west of Calea București, between Libertății Street and Nicolae Grigorescu Street. The station will have three entrances: two (Entrances A and B) in the green area near the Research Station, connecting to the eastern part of the city, and a third (Entrance C) passing beneath Calea București, providing access to the western part of the city. Ion I.C. Brătianu Station will be 159 meters long with a maximum width of 22.16 meters.

The subway structure between axes 21-40 of the Tokyo station is situated in front of the southern road access to the Băneasa Commercial Center, also on the western side of the Bucharest-Ploiești Road. Stația Bruxelles va fi amplasată în laterala estică a Șoselei București – Ploiești, în zona de Nord-Est a intersecţiei dintre Șoseaua București – Ploiești şi Linia de Centură (D.N.C.B.). Stația Bruxelles reprezintă puțul de lansare din care se vor lansa TBM-urile, pentru fiecare dintre cele două direcții. Această stație va fi dotată cu două accesuri, o galerie, precum și o parcare situată în zona verde adiacentă. Înălțimea parcării este D+P+1E+terasă circulabilă. Stația Bruxelles are o lungime de 295 m, din care 146,3 m sunt destinați zonei de manevră din capătul nordic, și o lățime maximă de 28,27 m.

Două dintre acestea (accesurile A și B) sunt amplasate pe zona verde adiacentă Stațiunii de Cercetare și fac legătura cu partea de est a orașului, iar cel de-al treilea subtraversează Calea București (accesul C), făcând legătura cu partea de vest a orașului. Stația I.C. Brătianu are o lungime de 159 m și o lățime maximă de 22,16 m.

Această stație este stația finală a proiectului și reprezintă, de asemenea, puțul de recepție pentru TBM-uri. Stația Aeroport Otopeni are o lungime de 332.47m, din care 179.3m pentru spațiul de manevră din capătul sudic, și o lățime maximă de 37.14m.
