
From 10 September 2025, traffic restrictions will be introduced on the DN1, in the area of the junction with Strada Elena Văcărescu and in the area of the junction with Strada Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea, in order to continue the works on Metro Line 6, SOUTH Section.
The works will be carried out simultaneously in both directions of travel on the DN1.
Traffic measures:
- In the Bucharest – Otopeni direction, road traffic will be carried on 3 traffic lanes;
- In the Otopeni – Bucharest direction, traffic will be closed on lane 1 in the area of the junction with Strada Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea, and traffic will be carried on the other two lanes;
The work area will be separated from the area open to road traffic by directional bollards, supplemented by flashing amber lights.
In order to carry out the works, road traffic will remain closed on the collector road adjacent to the DN1, on the section between Strada Horia Măcelariu and Bulevardul Aerogării.
The measures are being implemented on the basis of the approval issued by CNAIR and IGPR, valid until 30.09.2025, with the possibility of an extension. The road signs will be set out in accordance with the approved traffic plan.

The project “Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni, Connection of the metro network to Henri Coandă International Airport – Otopeni” is a public utility project of national interest, in accordance with Government Decision no. 496/2017, as subsequently amended and supplemented, which addresses people’s mobility needs through the development of the trans-European transport network.
Metro Line 6 will provide the direct link from Gara de Nord to Otopeni International Airport.
