Updated information on the traffic restrictions at Fântâna Miorița, Gara Băneasa, on Șoseaua București – Ploiești

METROREX announces changes to the traffic restrictions in the Fântâna Miorița, Gara Băneasa area on Șoseaua București – Ploiești, on the alignment of the future M6 metro line, SOUTH Section.

The measures will be implemented on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, 14–15 October 2025.

Under the Traffic Plan approved for the Metro Line 6 works, SOUTH Section, changes are being made to traffic arrangements in the area mentioned above, for site activities required by stage V of the works for the future “Gara Băneasa” metro station.

The work will be carried out by occupying traffic lanes I and II in the direction of Piața Presei Libere.

Road traffic on Șoseaua București – Ploiești, in the Fântâna Miorița area, will be carried on two traffic lanes in each direction, suitably prepared and signposted.

Traffic to and from Strada Tipografilor reopens on two traffic lanes.

Metrorex thanks all road users on the above route, as well as the residents and businesses operating near the work areas, for their understanding.

Metro Line 6 will provide the direct link from Gara de Nord to Henri Coandă International Airport. Along a route of 14.2 km it will comprise 12 metro stations: Pajura, Expoziției, Piața Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Aeroport Băneasa, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Brătianu, Aeroport Otopeni.

The project “Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni, Connection of the metro network to Henri Coandă International Airport – Otopeni” is a public utility project of national interest, in accordance with Government Decision no. 496/2017, as subsequently amended and supplemented, which addresses people’s mobility needs through the development of the trans-European transport network.

Notice on new traffic restrictions on the DN1, in the Băneasa underpass area

From 15 October 2025, traffic restrictions will be introduced on the DN1, in the direction of Otopeni, before the entrance to the Băneasa underpass.

In order to continue the works on Metro Line 6, SOUTH Section, the following traffic measures will be taken:

  • in the direction of Otopeni, road traffic will be carried on 2 traffic lanes alongside the site works;
  • the work area will be separated from the area open to road traffic by New Jersey concrete barriers, supplemented by flashing amber lights;
  • in order to carry out the works, road traffic will remain closed on the collector road adjacent to the DN1, on the section between Strada Amiral Horia Măcelariu and Bulevardul Aerogării.

The Metro Line 6 site, in the direction of Otopeni, will occupy the first traffic lane for a period of 40 days.

The STB stop “Pod Băneasa” will be relocated 200 m from its original position, closer to the Băneasa Bridge.

Access to the junction of the DN1 with Bulevardul Aerogării is not affected.

The measures are being implemented on the basis of the approval issued by CNAIR and IGPR, valid until 30.10.2025. The road signs will be set out in accordance with the approved traffic plan.

Notice on traffic restrictions on the DN1, in the Băneasa Bridge area

From 10 September 2025, traffic restrictions will be introduced on the DN1, in the area of the junction with Strada Elena Văcărescu and in the area of the junction with Strada Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea, in order to continue the works on Metro Line 6, SOUTH Section.

The works will be carried out simultaneously in both directions of travel on the DN1.

Traffic measures:

  • In the Bucharest – Otopeni direction, road traffic will be carried on 3 traffic lanes;
  • In the Otopeni – Bucharest direction, traffic will be closed on lane 1 in the area of the junction with Strada Constantin Dobrogeanu Gherea, and traffic will be carried on the other two lanes;

The work area will be separated from the area open to road traffic by directional bollards, supplemented by flashing amber lights.

In order to carry out the works, road traffic will remain closed on the collector road adjacent to the DN1, on the section between Strada Horia Măcelariu and Bulevardul Aerogării.

The measures are being implemented on the basis of the approval issued by CNAIR and IGPR, valid until 30.09.2025, with the possibility of an extension. The road signs will be set out in accordance with the approved traffic plan.

Additional traffic restrictions at Fântâna Miorița

From 05.10.2024, additional traffic restrictions come into force in the Fântâna Miorița area.

These measures are required by the site activities, stage II, for the future Gara Băneasa metro station on the alignment of the future Metro Line M6, South Section.

Access to and from Strada Tipografilor is closed completely.

The U-turn lane on Șoseaua București – Ploiești towards Strada Tipografilor will be closed.

Drivers who need to use Strada Tipografilor are advised to reroute via Bulevardul Poligrafiei.

IMPORTANT: Road traffic will continue to be carried on two traffic lanes in each direction of Șoseaua București – Ploiești in the area mentioned above.

The traffic restrictions have been approved by the Technical Traffic Commission of Bucharest City Hall, the Transport Directorate, the Bucharest Streets Administration and the Bucharest Traffic Police Brigade, through Approval No. 2791.889 of 03.10.2024, valid until 09.12.2024.

The traffic diversion and the road signs in the area of the works are carried out in accordance with the legislation in force.
