Following the articles that appeared in the press about the incident that occurred yesterday, 26 February, in the area of the Gara Băneasa site, Metrorex states that it was caused, independently of the Metro Line 6 works, by a crack in a water pipe belonging to the drinking water supplier and sewerage service operator.
The seepage affected the carriageway at the entrance to Strada Tipografilor, at the junction with Șoseaua București–Ploiești. The area was isolated immediately, and the water operator intervened to shut off the supply to the damaged pipe.
The contractor for the South Section of Metro Line 6 immediately began stabilisation works, pouring approximately 150 cubic metres of fluid concrete into the cavity that had formed.
The situation has been remedied and is being monitored, with all the necessary safety measures in place.
