For construction activities under the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and construction of station structures, galleries, and tunnels. Lot 1. – 1 Mai-Tokyo”, METROREX announces the diversion of road traffic on a section of Expoziției Boulevard. This traffic diversion is scheduled to take effect on 19.09.2024, as part of the construction plan for the future “Expoziției – Piața Montreal” metro interstation, part of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section.
The traffic will be diverted in accordance with the plan approved by I.G.P.R. – Traffic Department. Any further changes will be communicated through an updated announcement.
The traffic diversion and road signage in the work area will be implemented in line with current regulations, with traffic management overseen by representatives from the Traffic Brigade, at times agreed with the appointed contractor and with at least 72 hours’ notice.
The construction will take place in two phases, during which traffic on Expoziției Boulevard will alternate, ensuring that at least one lane is maintained for each direction, in compliance with legal width requirements. Pedestrian crossings will be provided at the existing crossings located at each end of the restricted road section.
M6 Metro Line will provide a direct link from Gara de Nord to Otopeni International Airport. The 14.2 km route will include 12 metro stations: Pajura, Expoziției, Piața Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Băneasa Airport, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Brussels, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Brătianu, and Henri Coandă International Airport.
“Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)” is a project of public utility and national interest, as outlined in Government Decision no. 496/2017, with subsequent amendments, ensuring the mobility needs of passengers through the development of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T).
