Traffic restrictions at Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere

Metrorex announces the modification of the implementation period of the restrictions in the area of Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere. The restrictions, initially scheduled to begin on July 6, 2024, will come into effect as of July 13, 2024, at the request of the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport Bucharest-Ilfov (TPBI).


Execution activities at the upcoming metro station Piața Montreal on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, as part of the execution contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo” require the need to close the three existing traffic lanes on Mărăști Blvd., between Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere.


The restriction measure is scheduled for the time period 06.07.2024 – 07.09.2024; any possible modification will be announced through an updated notice.


The traffic deviation plan is endorsed by the Technical Traffic Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, the Transport Department, through the Approval no. 4257/08.04.2024, by the Bucharest Streets Administration and by the Bucharest Traffic Police, through the Notice no. 2791116 SSR/BS/10.05.2024.


Traffic deviation and road signage in the works area will be carried out in accordance with the legislation in force.


This will be signaled through the installation of information signs about the restriction at the intersections: Ion Mihalache Blvd. – Aviator Popișteanu Street, Aviator Popișteanu Street – Expoziției Blvd., Parcului Street – Expoziției Blvd. – Aviator Traian Vasile Street, Mărăști Blvd. – Alexandru Constantinescu Street and Mărăști Blvd. – Mareșal Alexandru Averescu Blvd.


Pedestrians will cross at the existing crossings at the ends of the restricted road section.


The preparatory operations for the traffic diversion will be carried out with the support and under the supervision of the Traffic Police.
