Updated information on traffic restrictions and extensions of traffic restrictions on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, 1 Mai – Tokyo:

– Gara Băneasa – Aeroport Băneasa interstation, until 30.09.2025;

– Aeroport Băneasa metro station, until 30.04.2025;

– Aeroport Băneasa – Tokyo interstation, until 30.09.2025;

– Tokyo metro station, until 31.03.2025;

We thank all traffic participants on the above-mentioned route, as well as residents and companies operating in the vicinity of the works area for their understanding.

Metrorex announces updated information on the extension of traffic restrictions for works on M6 Metro Line, South Section, 1 Mai – Tokyo

For execution activities in the framework of the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo”, METROREX announces the extension of the traffic restrictions on the future alignment of the M6 Metro Line, South Section.

According to the Opinions renewed by the relevant authorities, traffic in the following areas is restricted as follows:

– in the 1 Mai area, at night, traffic is closed from 10:00 p.m. to 06:00 a.m., on Carpați, Mircești and Caransebeș streets, except for residents and public transportation, during the execution of the works related to the project. The traffic participants are asked to use during this time the alternative routes around the works area (via Pajurei Street, Jiului Street, towards Poligrafiei Boulevard), according to the road signs installed from the intersection of Bucureștii Noi Blvd. / Șoseaua Chitilei / Calea Griviței;

– in the area 1 Mai – Pajura, traffic restrictions are extended until 30.09.2025;

– in the Pajura area, the traffic restrictions are extended for the entire period of the building permit, no. 80/12.12.2023, issued by the Ministry of Transport, until March 22, 2027;

– in the areas Pajura – Romexpo – Piața Presei Libere, the restrictions are extended until 30.09.2025;

– in the Gara Băneasa area, the restrictions are extended until 31.01.2025;

– for the future 1 Mai, Aeroport Băneasa and Tokyo stations, the extension Opinions are in the process of being issued, and we will come back with updated information when we receive the decision from the relevant authorities.

M6 Metro Line will provide a direct connection between Gara de Nord to Otopeni International Airport. It will have a route of 14,2 km and will include 12 metro stations: Pajura, Expoziției, Piața Montreal, Gara Băneasa, Aeroport Băneasa, Tokyo, Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I. C. Brătianu, Aeroport Otopeni.

Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni) is a project of public utility, of national interest, according to Government Decision no. 496/2017, with subsequent amendments and additions, which ensures the mobility needs of people through the development of the Trans-European Transport Network.

The works for the Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai – Tokyo are financed by PNRR. Financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

Work begins on the Ion I.C. Brătianu metro station – North Section

Metrorex announces the release of the Order of Commencement of Works for the Ion I.C. Brătianu metro station, one of the stations of the future M6 Metro Line, North Section. It represents an important step forward in the implementation of the “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)”.

In the coming period, the teams of specialists of the appointed constructor, Gülermak Ağir Sanayi Insaat Ve Taahhüt A.S. – Somet SA, will start the preparatory activities, the site organization works and the first stages of construction.

M6 Metro Line will have 12 new stations, a total route of 14.2 km of double track, on which 12 new modern trains will run.

The North Section (Lot 1.2) is the segment between Tokyo and Otopeni Airport stations, is 7.6 km long and will include six new stations: Washington, Paris, Bruxelles, Otopeni, Ion I.C. Brătianu and Aeroport Otopeni.

“Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai – Otopeni)” is a project of public utility, of national interest, being financed from the state budget and external reimbursable funds – an external loan from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency).

The traffic restriction at Fântâna Miorița is extended

The traffic restriction in the area of Fântâna Miorița is extended until 31.01.2025, according to the renewed traffic Opinion.

The site activities for the future Gara Băneasa metro station on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, require such measures.

Access to and from Tipografilor Street remains closed.

The turn lane on the Șoseaua Bucharest-Ploiești towards Tipografilor Street remains closed.

Drivers who need to travel along Tipografilor Street are advised to reconfigure their route via Poligrafiei Boulevard.

IMPORTANT: Road traffic will continue on two lanes in each direction on Șoseaua București – Ploiești in the above mentioned area.

The implementation of the traffic restrictions is approved by the Technical Traffic Commission of the Bucharest City Hall, Transport Department, Bucharest Streets Administration and Bucharest Road Brigade, valid until 31.01.2025.

Traffic diversion and road signalization in the works area shall be carried out according to the legislation in force.

Restricted traffic on the DN 1 slip road between Horia Măcelariu Street and Aerogării Boulevard

Starting Wednesday, November 27, 2024, traffic restrictions are in effect for the execution of works at the ventilation plant related to the Gara Băneasa – Aeroport Băneasa interstation on the alignment of the South Section of the objective  “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo”.

By the joint Opinion of the C.N.A.I.R and the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police – Road Directorate, for the execution of works on the ventilation plant, road traffic will be closed on the collector road adjacent to DN1 (Șoseaua București – Ploiești), on the sector between Horia Măcelariu Street and Aerogării Boulevard.

As the slip road parallel to DN1 will no longer be accessible, the access to Aerogării Boulevard will be made by detour via Horia Măcelariu Street.

Road and pedestrian signage is carried out according to legal requirements.

The Opinion is valid until 31.12.2024.

Any subsequent changes will be communicated to the general public at the respective time.

Extension of traffic restriction in the 1 Mai area

Based on the renewed traffic Opinion, the road traffic restrictions in the 1 Mai area are extended until 31.12.2024, for the works necessary to connect the current 1 Mai station on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, within the framework of the contract “Bucharest International Airport Rail Access Link Project (Metro Line 6. 1 Mai-Otopeni). Design and Build – Civil Works for Lot 1.1: 1 Mai-Tokyo”.

The diversion plan is approved in compliance with the legislation in force.

Any possible changes that may occur in the time to come will be announced in an update announcement.

The traffic restriction established on 24.08.2024 at the intersection Calea Griviței – Ion Mihalache Blvd. remains in force, with the provision of alternative routes:

• for the direction from Șoseaua Chitilei and Bucureștii Noi Blvd., the alternative will be the route Carpați Street – Mircești Street – Caransebeș Street;

• for the direction from Ion Mihalache Blvd. and Calea Griviței, for the exit from the Capital, the alternative will be the route Clăbucet Street – Aviator Popișteanu Street – Soveja Street – Constanța Bridge.

On Carpați, Mircești and Caransebeș streets, access restriction (except for local residents and public transportation) has been established by a Secondary Traffic Opinion, between 10:00 p.m. – 06:00 a.m., during the works.

For this restriction, temporary road signs are installed from the intersection of Bucureștii Noi Blvd. / Șoseaua Chitilei / Calea Griviței, according to the approved temporary signalization plan, with the signalization of the detour routes via Pajurei Street, Jiului Street to Poligrafiei Blvd.

Road signing and traffic flow are in accordance with the legislation in force, under the supervision and control of the Road Brigade.

Extension of traffic restriction in Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere

The traffic restriction on Bd. Mărăști, in the Piața Montreal – Piața Presei Libere area is extended until 31.12.2024, according to the renewed traffic Opinion.

The execution activities at the future metro station, Piața Montreal, on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, 1Mai – Tokyo, require traffic modifications necessary to implement the second phase of the Traffic Plan approved in the project.

The traffic diversion plan is authorized by the Polic Road Brigade, by Opinion No. 2792.037, valid for the period 06.11.2024 – 31.12.2024.

Traffic diversion and road signage in the works area are carried out in accordance with the legislation in force.

In addition to phase I of the works on this objective, the current phase involves that pedestrian access from the STB station in Piața Presei Libere to the end of tram line 41 to be directed through Regele Mihai I Blvd., on a signalized route.

Crossing for pedestrians will be ensured at the existing crossings in the area/built during the works.

M6 Metro Line, among METROREX’s novelties at Railway Days 2024

On the second day of the Railway Days SUMMIT, October 29-30, 2024, 19th edition, the General Director of Metrorex, Mariana Miclăuș, presented the current status of the metro projects underway and those in preparation.

METROREX traditionally participates in this landmark event for Eastern Europe, which annually brings together local and international representatives.

As a speaker invited to hold a presentation at the panel “Modernization of the rail, urban and peri-urban infrastructure”, Mrs. Miclăuș underlined Metrorex’s commitment to the expansion and modernization of the Bucharest metro network.

The development of future main lines: Line 4, Line 5, Line 6, Line 7 and Line 8, have been among the projects discussed, as well as extensions of the existing ones, which will be realized in cooperation with local authorities.

In addition to the presentations of specialists in the field, Metrorex, alongside the other members of the industry, also exhibited a stand where those interested could find out the latest news about the company.

Metrorex at Railway Days 2024

On the occasion of the 19th edition of the Railway Days SUMMIT, October 29-30, 2024, METROREX General Director, Mariana Miclăuș, addressed the participants at the opening of the event about the Bucharest metro, a significant solution of transport for the mobility of the Capital.

Additional traffic restrictions at Fântâna Miorița

Starting from 05.10.2024, additional traffic restrictions come into force in the area of the Miorița Fountain.

The construction site activities, phase 2, for the future Gara Băneasa metro station on the alignment of the future M6 Metro Line, South Section, require these measures.

Access to and from Tipografilor Street will be completely closed.

The turn lane from București-Ploiești Road to Tipografilor Street will be closed.

Drivers who need to travel along Tipografilor Street are advised to reconfigure their route via Poligrafiei Boulevard.

IMPORTANT: Road traffic will continue on two lanes in each direction of București-Ploiești Road in the above mentioned area.
